A Bris is the religious ceremony surrounding the
circumcision of a Jewish child. The Bris occurs seven days
after the child's birth. The ceremony and circumcision is performed
by a person called a Moil. Many friends and family usually
attend this event which can be held in the home or in the synagogue.
Since many Jewish people do not have a baby shower, the Bris is the
occasions when you would provide gifts for the child (these may depend on
the customs of the family). The gifts would be the same as if you
were going to the baby shower, however, religious oriented gifts could be
added to your list.
