The four years of high school could be the most difficult
four year period in a young person's life. During this short span of
time a great deal of pressure, responsibilities and changes (not to
mention dating) are forced upon them. The High School Graduation is
the day that these young people go from being "kids" to being
young adults. Gifts for High School, as well as any other occasion
surrounding education should be as extravagant as you can afford.
Spend less on Birthdays or Holidays and spend more for educational
milestones to show the youngster the rewards for doing well in
school. Some more traditionally expensive gifts from parents &
guardians have been a car (used or new), jewelry or a trip to
Europe. However, some of us do not have that much money, so there
are a few less expensive alternatives such as a TV (it does not have to be
a wide screen), a new stereo system or even a digital camera. Gifts
from friends and relatives do not need to be expensive, but should show
that they are proud of the young man or women. Gifts could include
gift baskets of goodies or other small items. Gifts for the graduate
could be practical. For instance, if the person is going away to school
the following semester, purchasing them items for the new dorm room or
apartment would be great.
