Different people feel differently
about their birthdays. Some want to celebrate each one and have
everyone know about it. Others keep it to themselves or even try to
forget about it. However, a small token like a card will put a smile
on their face in all circumstances. Outside of spouses, lovers, and
some close friends, the non-milestone birthdays come and go with a dinner
and maybe a card. However, something like flowers or a box of
candies would be nice. However, when you hit those milestone dates,
the ones that end with a Five or a Zero, it is time to get a gift that is
a little nicer than usual. Flowers and candy are still appropriate,
but these birthdays could be made a little more special. Instead of
purchasing a small gift yourself, how about chipping-in with a bunch of
other friends and get them something really nice. For spouses or
lovers, jewelry or something expensive that they have been asking for the
last three years would be a great gift. For these larger gifts, ask
the person what they want if they have not hinted at it beforehand.
If they will not give you any help, either purchase something relating to
a hobby or interest they have (you can never go wrong there), or if it is
for that extra-special milestone dates such as the fiftieth, airline or
cruise tickets are a good idea.
